Bangladesh Cervical Cancer Vaccination Program (BCCVP)
On behalf of Bangladesh Cervical Cancer Vaccination Program Committee (BCCVPC) we Prof. Sabera Khatun, Member Secretary (BCCVPC) and Prof. S.R Begum, Chairman (BCCVPC) would like to inform that in Bangladesh first HPV vaccine ( Cervarix) was pushed to a 9 years girl on 27th December 2008 at the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, after getting license from Drug Administration of Bangladesh through Bangladesh Cervical Cancer vaccination program committee (BCCVPC). The girl received 3 doses of cervarix. It was a "Pilot Program for the prevention of Cervical Cancer by HPV Vaccination in Bangladesh".
Since then more than 5000 girls were vaccinated through different Nongovernment Organisations of Bangladesh. In reference to that pilot program the Govt. of Bangladesh implemented a Demonstration project funded by GAVI and vaccinated about 33000 girls of 10 years old of Gazipur District by two doses of Cervarix in 2016. This is for the dissemination by introducing in the Website of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.
